Barc-ee’s — not to be confused with Buc-ee’s — is planning a flagship location along Interstate 44 in Marshfield. Barc-ee’s hopes to set itself apart from other stops with extra accommodations for travelers who have brought their dogs along.
“Most of the time when you’re traveling with your dog, you’re kind of just holding the leash while you’re pumping gas,” said Barc-ee’s visionary John Lopez. Lopez is also behind ventures such as Old Route 66 Wellness dispensary, K9s for Camo Inc., and Howliday Inn Pet Resort. He also has plans to open several dispensaries in New Jersey.
Barc-ee’s will feature a 7,500 square-foot facility that includes a dog park, coffee shop, food options, games, and a Western-themed miniature city for kids. The attraction aims to create a fun and convenient stop for families and their furry companions. Lopez has partnered with Sherif Magd, owner of MacCheesy’s and The Kebab Shack, to offer new dining concepts at Barc-ee’s. Additionally, the gas station will showcase Amish pies, ice cream, antiques, and is working on a deal to add a Tesla charging station.
In a nod to Buc-ee’s, Barc-ee’s plans to advertise along I-44 up to 600 miles out with billboards featuring friendly jabs at its inspiration. Lopez’s legal team has confirmed there are no issues with the similar names, according to a press release.
