Unique business combination hosts grand-opening
MARSHFIELD, Mo. – A new and unique business in Marshfield hosted its grand opening on Saturday.
Barc-ee’s is a combination of a restaurant, coffee shop and dog park, where families are encouraged to bring their furry friends out for fun.
“We really hope to provide something for the entire family to be able to be a little less bored while they’re inside,” Social media manager and graphic designer Kaylee Chodkowski says.
In Marshfield, there aren’t many places for the entire family, including four-legged friends, to go together. Barc-ee’s staff decided to change that.
“So we’re all familiar with the road trip troubles of the kids in the back seat saying, ‘Are we there yet?’ You have the dog barking when you bring your dog on the road trip,” Chodkowski said. “So, we wanted to really create a stop for the entire family. Dogs included.”
In addition to the food and dog parks, Barc-ee’s offers over a 3,000-square-foot playroom for kids.
“An indoor playground. We have Mini Western City for the kids, and we have a trampoline for the older kids to hop on and play on,” Chodkowski added.
Tammie Maples came to Saturday’s grand opening. She says it is exciting to see community growth.
“I think it’s amazing. I didn’t realize exactly all that it entailed until I got here. So, then I was really amazed on everything that it did entail,” Maples said.
While the name Barc-ee’s sounds fitting, another large corporation just down the road may say the name hits a little too close to home.
“Whenever I first heard about it coming to Marshfield, I was like, ‘Barc-ees? Hmmm’” Maples said. “So, I’m kind of up in the air.”
In November, Buc-ees, a Texas-based gas station and retailer that expanded into Springfield in 2023, filed a federal lawsuit against a Kimberling City liquor store called “Duckee’s” for trademark infringement.
Since Barc-ee’s is doing something a bit different, Chodkowski says that isn’t an issue on their minds right now.
“No, we have no concerns for that at this time,” She said.
If you’re looking for a little family fun with the dogs, Barc-ees is located at 140 York Drive in Marshfield and is open every day from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
